Thoughts:
The project references two existing websites, the hillarious HOT or NOT and the legendary FuckU-FuckMe. The website puts you in control of which artist is hot and which one is not by rating them from 0.0 to 10.0. The satyre of the art world and it’s poseur population that mostly disregards the artist’s work, especially at exhibition openings, manifests itself with the fact that you can only rate artists like Matthew Barney, Damien Hirst, Vuk Ćosić, Olia Lialina and others based only on their looks, while the only description give for each of them is the first name and their age.
A slightly less obvious joke is the design itself, which, in an attempt to be “more net-art” despite its use of Flash and photos, uses the 4-or-so-color CGA graphics card pallete and is the mandatory aliased pixel-art aesthetics.
